Electricity Interconnectors connect the electricity nation grids of neighbouring countries allowing for the import and export of electrical power. Interconnectors are necessary to ensure the security of supply of power and promote the generation of renewable energies.

It is proposed to construct a 350MWinterconnector between the Arklow 220kV substation in the Republic of Ireland and the Pentir 400kV substation in North Wales. The total length of this point to point transmission will be approximately 135 km and is proposed to be buried under the seabed of the Irish Sea.
