Client: Office of Public Works in conjunction with Fota Trust Cost: €3.8million Completion date: Phase 1: 2002, Phase 2: 2008 Description: Malachy Walsh and Partners acted as Consulting Structural Engineers on the restoration of Fota House. In this project, MWP pioneered the use in this country of post tensioning of the timber floors in order to improve their structural capability. Great care had to be taken during this project, as all ornate plasterwork had to be retained and could not be compromised during the strengthening works.
