Description: The project comprised a strategic and detailed Traffic modeling of relief road optimum and town center measures. A detailed SATURN based traffic model of Kenmare Town was constructed to assess proposed Traffic Management strategies including proposed Relief Road Route Options for Kenmare Town and its environs.  

Malachy Walsh and Partners carried out comprehensive traffic data collection on behalf of Kerry County Council during August 2005. This data formed the basis for the construction of a traffic model of Kenmare Town. A base year 2005 peak season model was calibrated and validated to the appropriate standard. A forecast year 2021 traffic model was constructed in consultation with Kerry County Council, and in the context of the Kenmare Local Area Plan, which was adopted by the Council in May 2004.
