Malachy Walsh and Partners is an established multi-disciplinary Engineering and Environmental Consulting Practice which has been in business since 1967 and currently employs over 150 persons. The head office is located in Cork City with other offices in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Limerick and London, U.K. The Company is totally owned by its Directors.

Malachy Walsh and Partners has extensive experience in environmental, educational, commercial and industrial developments, civil and structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical, environmental impact assessment, appropriate assessment, planning services, water services, flood risk assessments and flood alleviation works.

The firm is currently expanding its capacity in the energy and infrastructure sectors and is seeking to recruit a number of people to work within our environmental/planning team. Our team is based across our three offices in Tralee, Cork & Limerick. These new posts allow for remote working around the country with a requirement for office attendance as necessary for project meetings. Senior Ecologist (Tralee Office): 7-10 Years Experience

We are involved in medium to large scale environmental projects and we currently have an immediate need for a full time Senior Ecologist to work on renewable energy, infrastructure, coastal and other environmental projects. This is a permanent role and offers the successful candidate opportunities for career development.

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years post qualification experience, ideally in an environmental consultancy and will hold a BSc and MSc in a relevant discipline. Experience in ecological impact assessments is essential.

The role will ideally be based in our Tralee office and will require some travel to various parts of the country for work. Salary is negotiable subject to experience.

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Strong commercial awareness

We are seeking Environmental Consultants to work within our growing Environmental team on a wide range of energy/infrastructure environmental projects. The ideal candidate will be looking to further his/her career and gain invaluable experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering & environmental consultancy within a friendly working environment. This is a permanent role and offers the successful candidate opportunities for career development.

It allows for remote working combined with some periods of work in any of our office locations.

Responsibilities

  • Management of environmental projects
  • Management of junior team members
  • Preparation of screening, scoping and EIAR reports
  • Preparation of AA Screening Reports
  • Environmental due diligence assessments
  • Preparation of EPA licensing applications
  • Preparation of statutory consent documentation
  • Consultation with regulators and statutory bodies

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years post qualification experience, most of which will have been gained within an environmental consultancy area
  • Membership of a professional body
  • Knowledge of and experience in contaminated land/geo-environmental assessment would be an advantage
  • Ability to work well in teams, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills

  • Data collection & interpretation
  • Public and statutory consultation
