Malachy Walsh and Partners are delighted that the Redevelopment of Páirc Uí Chaoimh received awards at two recent construction industry events. On Friday 23rd March 2018 the project was the winner of the Overall Award and also received a Judge’s Silver Medal at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards. MWP acted as the design project manager and were responsible for all engineering disciplines, fire engineering and environmental assessment. The firm were also Civil/Structural designers for two other projects which were nominated for awards – Borlin Valley Embankment Works and New Ross Junior & Senior Schools.

At the Irish Concrete Society Annual Awards on Saturday 24th March, Páirc Uí Chaoimh won the award for Best Infrastructure Project. The MWP designed Munster Rugby High Performance Centre was also nominated in the Building Category.

The Irish Concrete Society Jury chose the Redevelopment of Páirc Uí Chaoimh from a shortlist of seven projects in the Infrastructure category and their comments reflected the large volume of high quality precast and in-situ concrete elements throughout the stadium.

“This is a project of scale and impact and it dominates the local area. The vertical concrete elements and the excellent precast cladding panels captured the panels attention. There is also the row after row of precast concrete all completed to a high standard. This concrete tiered infrastructure surrounding is a worthy winner.”
